Setting and Staying Ahead of the Trends

Exciting things are happening in the world of eyewear . This was evident during Vision Expo East in New York City this past March , but it is also very apparent in the interviews and conversations we had with designers and distributors while putting this issue together .

Both at home and around the world , eyewear is at a turning point . Designers are eagerly embracing new technology , new colour and new demands from clients . This is giving eyecare providers a wealth of options to present to their customers and allowing the wearer to define their own style .
As you will read in our article on the latest trends , there simply aren ’ t any . Instead , there are looks that remain popular , but they are being taken in new directions .
Bold colour , innovative material use and customization reign supreme and there is no sign of going back .
Also continuing to reign over the eyewear world are styles and designs from Britain , particularly from the independent makers .
Always known for being the trendsetters rather than the followers , this tradition continues with the centuries old eyewear designers of Britain who continue to lead the direction of fashion .
Though the ‘ brand names ’ may make their mark on the catwalk , the independents remain the favourite of the discerning buyers .
ECPs will also be excited to learn about new innovations in the area of eye disease diagnosis and treatment . In this issue we present several articles to increase the awareness of what is happening in research and development .
This year has also brought with it the chance to meet with some interesting ambassadors and spokespeople for various eyewear brands .
Take a moment to visit us online where you will find exclusive interviews with baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr ., celebrity chef Robert Irvine as well as the chance to go behind the scenes with the people who create and design your favourite pieces of eyewear .
Keep connecting with us on Facebook , Twitter and Pinterest .
Send your pictures , stories and ideas . We enjoy what you have to share .
We always have our eyes on you .
