Marsh & Bayou’s Fishing Forecast Mississippi Coast by Alex Smith www.alexsmithfishing.com There’s nothing better than having a routine. Whether it’s a morning work routine, or an early morning fishing trip routine, both can make the day a lot easier. Finally, it looks like the chaos is behind us. Bite patterns are becoming more consistent which means more fish in the boat. The speckled trout and redfish action has been incredible lately along the entire coast. Flounder are beginning to show themselves along the beach front. Inshore and offshore reefs are holding large speckled trout and big numbers at that. The barrier islands are becoming the latest and greatest hot spot. Each morning boats can be found stacked up around the Bird Cage and South Bayou. The grass beds are producing big numbers of trout, especially for those wade fishing. Matrix Shad’s nightreuse and pink champagne have been the best preforming colors. Using a popping cork or tight lining a jig have both been effective. With the influx of shrimp moving into the area, Egret Baits Vudu Shrimp has also been a hot bait. The top water bite has slowed up a little over the past few weeks, but is still effective before sunrise. From the current action, it looks like this is going to be one of the best years in a while.
