The trailer set up in front of the Sports Centre on Main Street and welcomed all visitors free of charge. “This is about our thirty second stop. We've been to Shellbrook, Prince Albert, Estevan and all points between. This is a brand-new program. We've had about 20 people through and we are hoping to get 50 people through. We really wanted to celebrate our 50th anniversary so we created the trailer and hit the road. The rest is history,” Kelly explained. “The highlight for me is the red and black jersey from the Regina Roughriders. We have a 1924 gold Olympic medal from the Canadian hockey team. There is a Star Wars Saskatoon Blades Jersey,” Gerrard added. There were numerous sports represented within the display. “We hit the big sports of hockey and football and curling as well as the Olympic section. There are 505 inductees in our Hall of Fame and there's around 275 inductees represented through images or artifacts in the display. It's a lot of memories. Every person's visit is different because they recognize artifacts and people,” Kelly stated. The SSHF will do this again next year in different locations. It is designed as a two-year program; after that they will use the trailer for outreach programming. For more information please check out sasksportshalloffame.com.
