Just when I thought the CFL was getting a little too predictable , Saskatchewan gets their second win of the season ? If that isn ’ t exciting enough they did it at home in overtime against the Edmonton Eskimos , the reigning Grey Cup Champions . Sunday was just the second game of the season that the Riders were able to rush for over 100 yards . This is a huge part to winning as you have to keep the defence on their toes and you just can ’ t do that with a one sided offence . The big win on Sunday was Darian Durant ’ s first win since the 2014 labour day classic . Durant took it to the house himself in overtime to make the final score 23-26 . On Friday the Hamilton Ti- Cats got back to . 500 with a win over the slumping Montreal Alouettes by a score of 20-17 . After the Alouettes traded QB Kevin Glenn last week it was time for Rakeem Cato to make his first start of the season . It didn ’ t go as he wanted ; Cato threw for just 168 yards and an interception . Saturday was a day of blowouts in the CFL and Calgary improved to 10- 1-1 on the season with a 48-23 whopper over the falling Ottawa RedBlacks . Stamps QB Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns while Ottawa QB had 289 passing yards that included two TD ’ s and an interception . The second game of the double header saw the Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue their roll with a big 46-26 victory against the Toronto Argonauts . With the win the Bombers have now won 7-straight after starting the season 1-4 . My picks are 24-9 after going 2-2 in week 13 . Next weeks winning picks are Ottawa , BC , Calgary , and Hamilton .
I might not be the first to say it this year and yes it is early to be saying this but what ’ s up with the Seahawks ? They are 1-1 after week two and lost to the LA Rams . If losing wasn ’ t bad enough , the score was 9-3 . There have been higher scoring games in the World Cup of Hockey . Week one was only a fraction better as they only managed 12 points . It ’ s a good thing the Seahawks defence has been stellar so far this year , allowing just 19 points . The Seahawks are 1-1 and the Pats are 2-0 ( no surprise ). Wait , that is a surprise . The Patriots are 2-0 without their All- Stars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski . Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Dolphins on Sunday . Things once again went sideways for the Pats as Garoppolo went down with a shoulder injury in just the second quarter . This opened the

gates for Rookie QB Jacoby Brissett who completed 6 / 9 passes for just 92 yards and was sacked twice . It is unsure if Garoppolo will be back next week or not . I forgot to make picks last week but I did get the win from San Francisco in week one so my record is 9-7 . My picks for week three are as follows ; Houston , Arizona , Carolina , Cincinnati , Green Bay , Baltimore , Miami , New York Giants , Tennessee , San Francisco , Tampa Bay , San Diego , Kansas City , Pittsburgh , Chicago , and Atlanta .
The World Cup of Hockey is officially underway as the pretournament finished up last week and the opener was on the 17th . The first game of the tournament was a shocker . The powerhouse team U . S . A was embarrassed by team Europe , getting shut out by a score of 3-0 . The second game was no surprise as team Canada walked all over the Czech Republic with a 6-0 beat down . On Sunday it was team North America ’ s turn to show off . A 4-1 final score over the Fins was a great display of skill by the young stars . Team Sweden was also able to grab a win from the Russians by a score of 2-1 . Mondays games saw Team Europe get their second win of the tournament , this one coming in overtime against the Czech Republic with a 3-2 score . The final game on Monday was an absolute thriller . North America ’ s goaltending fell apart as Matt Murray was chased out of the net after allowing 4 goals in the second period to make the score 4-1 . North America would get one more late in the second and would pull to within one with ten minutes left in the third . With John Gibson on the bench for the extra attacker it was all Bobrovski and the Russians could do to hold off the flurry of shots from the young team . Russia was able to hold their own and stick with it to get the 4-3 victory .
The Blue Jays have all but completely collapsed ; at the beginning of the month the Jays were holding the top spot in the A . L East and had a 3 game lead over the Boston Red Sox . That is all gone now as September has not been good to them going 4-9 in the month and are now just barely holding on to the final Wild Card playoff spot with Seattle and Detroit hot on their heels just two games behind . The Jays headed into possibly the biggest series of the year going to Seattle Monday to take on the Mariners who are chasing them for the final playoff spot . The Jays got the much needed first win 3-2 . Gotta love meaningful September baseball !
