Those participating in the tournament were thankful that the weather cooperated , and enjoyed the warm sunshine , unless they were one of the unfortunate players that had to wade into the water to retrieve their runaway disc ! ( INSET RIGHT )
Joanna Zalesiak , City of Martensville Program Coordinator II , confirmed that the popular event is scheduled to take place each year . “ We were excited to have 19 players of all ages join the tournament and enjoy a beautiful day outdoors . We celebrated everyone ’ s effort with some pizza afterwards and we hope to have everyone back next year ,” Zalesiak stated .

City Councilor Jamie Martens Talks Senior Transportation

Jamie Martens of Martensville City Council spoke to a group of concerned seniors about future transportation options September 8th . Residents of Martensville were invited to Château Villa , located at 151 Beaudry Crescent in Lake Vista to talk with Martens , who will be seeking reelection this November , about their concerns and hopes for transportation for seniors .
For seniors who wish to travel around Martensville or travel to and from Saskatoon , the options are very limited . If a senior does not have a vehicle or does not feel comfortable driving to and from Saskatoon they can hire a cab , otherwise they are in the position of having to ask family and friends or volunteers to do the driving for them . The purpose of the meeting was to find out what kind of options the seniors of Martensville want and many questions were asked about what her transportation plan would look like . Some topics that seniors were concerned about were : What would the cost be ? Who would administrate the vehicles and schedule ? What kind of vehicles would be used ? What would be the frequency of the transportation available ?
While Martens has some ideas about what the answers to these questions might be , what she was really looking for from the question-and-answer session was to

find out what kind of transportation seniors in Martensville are looking for , what kind of price range they thought would be acceptable , and to give her direction in what options to pursue on their behalf .
With the information gathered at the session , Martens now has a foundational idea and will be pursuing options that will best work for the seniors and other members of the City of Martensville .

September 21st at 10am , Jaycee Turtle of Lakeview Insurance will be discussing the fundamentals of Snow Bird Insurance . This session will include information about eligibility , medical details , types of coverage available , policy exclusions , limitations and what to do in the event of a medical emergency . The Medicine Shoppe will be on hand on Tuesday , September 27th at 10am to discuss the benefits of compression therapy .
