Martensville Family Wakes to Find Man in Their Bedroom Shanine Sealey , Martensville Messenger

One Martensville family awoke to a disturbing scene October 12th at approximately 5am . Martensville resident Lance Roberts shared his story through a community Facebook page titled , “ Martensville & Area Community News .” In his post , Roberts stressed the importance of “ keeping your doors locked , especially at night .” Many people are guilty of this , whether it is leaving doors unlocked overnight , or when we run out quickly to pick up some milk at the store ; however , Roberts ’ story proves just how scary the results of doing this can be . “ I ' ve always been ignorant to the thought that it won ' t happen to us and thought we are safe at all times in our home . My wife always makes sure the doors are locked but I would just not even think about it . My ignorance put my family in danger and I already can ' t forgive myself and things could have been worse ,” Roberts shared .
That morning , Roberts awoke to find a man crouched on the floor at the foot of the bed that him and his wife were asleep in , with articles of his wife ’ s clothes underneath him . “ This man snuck into our house so quietly and into our disaster of a room and went through our drawers without waking us up , and then decided to stay at the foot of our bed for who knows how long . I ' m glad it wasn ' t my kids or wife that found him first and so thankful they aren ' t hurt ,” Roberts continued .
Following the discovery , Roberts contacted the RCMP and within thirty minutes , a suspect was located and charged in connection to the incident . The suspect is a 24-yearold male , and is not a resident of Martensville , according to information provided by RCMP Sergeant Christopher Cisecki .

Bob Blackwell

My wife Vi and I have lived in Martensville for the past 37 years . In that time we witnessed both positive and dramatic growth . We have found it to be a great place to live and raise our family . I am presently retired after spending 34 years working for a large international PVC pipe manufacturer with the last 14 being the Regional Manager for the Western USA . I am seeking my 2nd term on Martensville City Council .
I have the time and energy to represent your interests to keep our great city moving forward . My prime concern is for the safety for your children and granchildren on our city streets and in the school and playground zones . I respectfully ask for your support on October 26 .
