If you live in the RM of Corman Park – take note . If you think your councillors & planning department are there to make decisions based on the best interests of the people they are supposed to represent , their decision to allow an Industrial Seed Cleaning Plant right in the middle of 67 rural homes disproves that . Five councillors who don ’ t represent the area voted in favor after over 80 % of the people in the area responded with concerns . When many taxpayers filled the council room & stated numerous reasons not to allow this , their pleas were disregarded . The applicant doesn ’ t even live in the RM of Corman Park , but their desire to have a business so they have Highway access & 3 phase power benefits no one in the area , but for some reason seemed like a good idea to these councillors . On both sides East & West of the property , landowners are subdividing into smaller parcels & acreages because the land is unusable for farming . It shows a complete lack of vision and future planning to put an Industrial Seed Cleaning Plant right in the middle .

Originally , the Department of Highways refused the applicant access off Highway 12 . Strangely at the meeting , it is mentioned by the applicant they can now access the Highway with the same number of vehicles that was in their original application . This came as a complete shock to the surrounding landowners as they had received no formal notice of this change .

This decision by council is wrong for everyone who lives in the area , or drives on Highway 12 & Powerline Road . It is going to affect our safety , property values , create noise , dust and environment concerns . At a later date , when the applicant was asked how this facility would benefit anyone in the area , he said he would sell us some pony oats . We don ’ t want their oats & we definitely do not want their Seed Cleaning plant in our front & back yards .
