Record Number of Shoppers Attend Shopping Extravaganza
Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger
The annual Martensville Shopping Extravaganza was held Saturday, November
12th at the North Ridge Centennial Community Centre from 9am-3pm. Throughout the
day approximately 500 people attended the event and perused the tables, which is an
increase in attendance from previous years. There were over 50 tables full of items on
display by a wide variety of vendors. Items such as crafts, art, food, clothing, jewelry
and more provided the perfect opportunity to get some Christmas shopping in early.
There was something there for everyone, including balloon twisting for the kids.
This was the first year attending for some vendors, and they were pleased with
the turnout. “There have been a lot of people stopping by, and it has been very busy. I
definitely plan on coming back next year,” Michelle Syniuk, owner of Double J Rustic
Creations in Melfort, stated. Syniuk’s designs include various crafts, including glass
blocks with Deco Mesh and lighting. Another vendor, Susie McCracken, owner of
Oil Love (an essential oils company) attended the Shopping Extravaganza as her first
ever tradeshow, and was pleased with the amount of people that stopped at her table to
inquire about her product.
Angie Reddekopp, City of Martensville Recreation Program Supervisor,
hinted that next year’s event will be even better, stating that they are planning to expand
the event for 2017. “We would like to thank all of the vendors and shoppers for coming
out and also thank you to everyone that donated to the door prize table,” Reddekopp
stated.
