Construction Scheduled to Begin on Overpasses in Spring 2017

On November 14th , 2016 , representatives from Peter Kiewit Infrastructure Co . ( PKIC ), McElhanney Engineering , Clifton Associates , ISL Engineering and the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure presented the design for the Martensville and Warman overpasses at the North Ridge Centennial Community Centre . A second open house is scheduled for November 17th at the Brian King Centre in Warman .
The representatives were extremely knowledgeable in explaining the new and safer routes to exit and enter the two communities . According to the project scope , the Martensville construction will consist of approximately 4km of new four lane divided roadway for Highway 12 , construction of a new two lane overpass for TWP Road 384 and associated on and off ramps , reconfiguration of the Centennial Drive and Main Street intersection and construction of a new Highway 12 exit ramp and signalized intersection at Centennial Drive and 4th Street South . On a day to day commute to work , civilians can expect less traffic delays as they approach the intersection of Main Street and Centennial .
The Highway 11 overpass for Warman will be located at the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 305 , which will connect the two provincial highways and allow for future road network expansion . This will also provide motorists with another option with unrestricted access in and out of Warman , with the Centre Street and South Access remaining open and unaffected by the new roadway . This location will also provide easy traffic accommodation during construction of the overpass , as well as reducing impact on local landowners and with fewer utility moves required . The project scope for Highway 11 includes ; construction of approximately 5km of new four lane divided roadway , construction of a new two lane overpass for Highway 305 and associated on and off ramps , construction of approximately 2km of a new two lane roadway to connect Highway 305 , range Road 3044 and Ferry Road , safety upgrades to the rail crossing on Highway 305 and safety upgrades to the intersection of Highway 11 and Ferry Road / Central Street .
The open houses did not provide much new information , as the design team is still working within the preliminary design phase , with plans to have the final design completed by early 2017 and construction set to begin in spring 2017 . Construction on the two overpasses is planned for the spring , with both being built at the same time by PKIC . The project , totalling $ 60.6 million , is planned to be complete and open to traffic by August 31 , 2019 and will provide approximately fifty local job opportunities .
