RCMP investigate Man for Possible inappropriate Conversations With Warman Youth

On November 2 , 2016 RCMP released a statement explaining that they were investigating a complaint that had been filed of a possible inappropriate conversation taking place between an adult and a youth . The incident was said to have taken place via a social media application with an adult male , located in another province . The RCMP are taking the matter seriously and upon further investigation , other youth at Warman Community Middle School may have also been in contact with the same male . No charges have currently been laid , and the RCMP are working with the Prairie Spirit School Division to ensure all Warman Community Middle School parents are aware of the incident and can speak with their children regarding safety when using social media sites and the internet . The RCMP stated that they have not received any complaints of physical contact between the person of interest and children within the community . “ A message has been sent to all parents in Warman Community Middle School and Prairie Spirit is working closely with the RCMP to ensure the safety of all of our students ,” said Tracey Young , Learning Superintendent , Prairie Spirit School Division .
As the investigation is ongoing , the RCMP is unable to provide further details regarding the incident . “ The big message is this : the Internet can be a dangerous place . Parents must be cognizant of the risks your children may face online and you must monitor your child ’ s online activity . It is important for parents to have regular conversations with their children about what inappropriate online conversation and behavior is ,” Staff Sgt . Scott Lambie , Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Provincial Coordinator , stated . Although those conversations can be difficult , Lambie recommends visiting Cybertip . ca , Canada ’ s national tip line for reporting the online sexual exploitation for children . Through Cybertip . ca , parents and youth are able to find valuable resources . “ If you need to report something , contact your local RCMP detachment , police service or call Crime Stoppers anonymously ,” Lambie added .

Give the Gift of Hope Through Operation Christmas Child

Each year , Martensville and area residents take the time to purchase items to fill a shoebox that will then be sent to children living in underdeveloped countries through the Operation Christmas Child ( OCC ) program . OCC takes place through Samaritan ’ s Purse , an organization that helps to provide safe water , food , clothing , shelter , medical assistance and educational resources for these countries . In 2015 there were a total of 3,129 boxes collected from the Valley area , 700,444 from Canada and 11.4 million collected from around the world . “ The joy and hope they give children , the shoeboxes can be life changing for the child , the family and the community ,” Lorraine Reddekopp of the Martensville Baptist Church commented . Each child will receive only one box throughout their lifetime . Boxes are available in Martensville at Pharmasave , Your Dollar Store ( they discount 10 % on shoebox purchases ) and SoulPower Fitness .
Those interested in participating in this wonderful program can fill boxes with a wide variety of items such as school supplies , hygiene items , toys , games , stuffed animals , clothing and more . There is a list of items that should and should not be included in the boxes , which can be found by visiting www . samaritanspurse . ca . Here you can find suggestions on what you can include for boys and girls of different ages .
Collection week will take place November 15-19 and shoeboxes can be dropped off at 415 Redwood Crescent in Warman ( drop by front door ), or at Martensville Baptist Church , located at 209 Centennial Drive North .
