Cheer Team Golden

The Venture Heights Cheer Team , coached by Krista Bula , Michelle Lockinger and Kyla Schutz , participated in the Warman Cheer competition this past weekend and had a stellar performance . They competed in the Scholastic Junior Small Cheer division and were first place . They also received an award for having no deductions on their performance . The Venture Heights Cheer team has been participating for the past seven years .
Their practices start in September in preparation for this competition . They have 18 girls on the squad who all helped with school barbeques and hot lunches to raise money to participate . “ We started with volleyball t-shirts and navy shorts and now we have cheer uniforms , bows and even professional music ”, commented coach Lockinger . This was the 11th year for the Warman Cheer Classic .

MAP Hosts Provincial Karate Tournament

Karate-kids from ages 5 to 50 will be taking part in Saskatchewan ’ s Karate Association Provincial Championship on Saturday , March 18th in Martensville . Martensville ’ s Athletic Pavilion will play host to this tournament as people from all ages showcase their karate abilities throughout the day . Black belts will be competing first at 9 . a . m . with the colour belts following .
Karate is a great physical activity for kids and adults alike as it allows partakers to achieve fitness and focus . Some parents may think the practice may also promote violence , but according to experts , this is a myth . The martial arts does a phenomenal job in helping to teach self-discipline and socialization skills . This event will give viewers the chance to see what karate is all about .
