KEEPING YOU SAFE & ON THE ROAD
Chateau villa Hosts Open House
Marcy Cross,
Martensville Messenger
Construction
on
the
Chateau
Villa
development
in
Martensville’s new Lake
Vista area is wrapping
up and the first residents
are moving in. An open
house was held July 13th
and 14th to give people
a chance to check out
the newly constructed
complex. Chateau Villa
consists of 24 units and
currently has nine of
those units occupied.
Chateau Villa is a mid to
upscale independent adult
living complex with the
smallest unit consisting
of over 1000 ft.² and the
largest unit offering more
than 1300 ft.². There are
two bedroom / two bath
units as well as one bed /
one-bath units.
At Chateau Villa, a Bridge
Road
Development
project, they are trying
to create a community
within a community.
The common room has
a bookcase for a book
and puzzle exchange.
Activities are just getting
started so they are still
looking for residents
suggestions about game
nights and potlucks.
“Tracy Wilson-Gerwing,
the local Emergency
Measures Organization
Coordinator,
wants
to come in and do
presentations. We might
also have classes on
computer usage and
Facebook,
and
are
talking about possibly
offering ‘insurance for
snowbirds’ classes and
legal will plan classes,
along
with
senior’s
nutrition and senior’s
safety. We are currently
holding
a
weekly
tenant chat and coffee
session as well,” Terri
Hetterly, President of
the Board of Directors,
explained.
“The attraction is safety
and community and each of
the residents brings skills
and life experiences. We
have residents that have
come from places other
than Martensville who want
to be near their children.
One of the residents has
experience with a writing
club and is interested in
starting a writing club
here. We want to have
entertainment nights and
get everybody together,”
Erin Sackmann, Manager/
Caretaker of Chateau Villa,
added.
When people move out
of their long-term home
and they are looking to
downsize, all the while
wondering how they can live
in a two-bedroom home, this
is what is most appealing
about
Chateau
Villa.
“When you are looking at it
(Chateau Villa), it is really
like moving into a three
bedroom home, because
you have this community
recreation room. There is
also a guest room that is
available to rent for a short
time. This living situation is
safe and convenient. When
going on vacation just turn
the key and you do not have
to worry. It's safe; the doors
are locked and neighbors
are checking on each other,”
Hetterly continued.
“In Chateau Villa, there
are no condo fees and
there are no property taxes.
Insurance is cheaper, a lot
of advantages to living in
a rental. You can enjoy the
equity that was tied up in
your home. There's so many
things that you can do with
that money that won't be
tied up in your home any
longer. The people that are
here are really happy with
the units. Several of them
have waited quite a while for
this to be built. What
I’m hearing from the
community is that they’re
really excited to get in
here and have a look
at it. The families have
been really positive as
they’ve moved people
in,” Hetterly stated.
Mary Letkeman, the
daughter
of
town
founder Dave Martens,
approached
Hetterly
about
Martensville
needing something for
seniors housing. “We
decided
we
needed
something for seniors.
We were just looking for
something that would
be good for
