Report of Creepy Clown in Martensville Proves False Ciara O ’ Reilly , Martensville Messenger

The streets of Martensville were under the fearful watch of worried parents following an incident that was said to have taken place December 27th around 12:30 pm near Venture Heights Elementary School . The story stemmed through a Facebook post and quickly gained attention through likes and shares resulting in worrisome families and hesitation in letting children out of the house .
According to the Facebook post , a young boy was walking to his friend ’ s home near the elementary school . The boy ventured upon the back alley behind Venture Heights between streets Springview and Sandstone . The post went on to state that one of 2016 ’ s infamous creepy clowns was met along the route , and as the boy ran , the clown pulled out a pocket-knife and carried on to state that he / she would slit the boys throat if he carried on running . The following morning , a member of the local RCMP visited the child and after speaking with him , felt as though the incident had not in fact occurred . After being thoroughly investigated by Martensville RCMP , the incident was proven to have not taken place . Sergeant Chris Cisecki concluded that “ there is no risk to the public .” Although the exact details are unknown , the mother posted ; “ Someone or something scared him in the back alley and by the time he ran to his friend ’ s house , his imagination got the best of him .”
Residents of Martensville are in no danger and the talk of ‘ creepy clowns ’ does not pose threat in our city . The Martensville Messenger posted about the incident via Facebook and immediately , concerned area residents began expressing their relief that the incident did not occur , with over 8500 people viewing the information .
As for the information being shared on social media before anything had been confirmed with the local RCMP , Sgt . Cisecki had this to say , “ I would encourage parents to contact police if they believe there is concerning information on social media relating to public safety . This will then inform the detachment and the detachment can then possibly send something official out to let the public know if necessary .”
