specific brand . Lids with valves on water bottles and sippy cups alike are prone
to the buildup of mould if residue is left unattended or unclean for a period of time .
Tommee Tippee responded on the recall and stated that " we have tested the valves of our cups , and the results have clearly confirmed that when the instructions for use and cleaning are followed , all works correctly . We want to reassure all parents that we have extensively tested the valves including testing them with a panel of 140 moms in the United States . The results support that when used with recommended liquids ( cold , light fluids including water and non-pulp juices ) and cleaned in line with instructions , there are no problems . However , we want everyone to share our confidence , so we will shortly be making a transparent valve available . The testing also showed that difficulties can arise
when liquids that are not recommended for use in the cups have been used , like thick formula milk , pulpy juice and warm liquids . We strongly advise against using those products . We also recommend that cups are not left for long periods before being cleaned .”
Here is a list of cleaning tactics issued from the company if your Tommee Tippee © cup is still within use : 1 . Unscrew the lid . Pull the valve out ( this is important for a thorough cleaning of the valve ). You may need to wiggle the valve left to right to get it to release . 2 . After each use , immediately wash all parts thoroughly in warm soapy water and rinse in clean water . The valve should be handwashed only . All other parts i n c l u d i n g the lid , base , cover and handles can be washed in the dishwasher ( top shelf only ). 3 . To ensure no residual soapy water is left in the valve , run clean water directly into all four openings after washing . 4 . To remove excess water , shake the valve and let it air-dry before reassembling it with the cup . Store your lids and cups separately , to allow air to circulate freely .

5 . Once all parts are dry , to re-assemble , place the valve back in the lid , pushing until the four sides lock into place . Screw the lid back onto the cup .
