Martensville ’ s Skate Park is Finally a-go ! Ciara O ’ Reilly , Martensville Messenger

Long over-due , Martensville ’ s skate park is set to begin construction this upcoming fall . The contract has been approved by New Line Skate Park for construction to be located in Kinsman Park , and our city now has the option to add an additional feature to the project . A BMX style pump track has been proposed by the skate park committee and discussed between the City of Martensville ’ s council members with a final decision yet to be made . In order for the pump track to go forward , a detailed design from New Line is needed in order to get sponsorships for the recreational feature . The design will set the City of Martensville back an additional $ 7,000 , however Recreational Director Dave Bosch recommended following through with the design and deciding what to do with it later on . Council has since decided to move forward and provide funding for the design of the additional feature . “ The request was made for funding to move forward with a conceptual design for the pump track based on a value of $ 75,000 ," said Bosch . “ We can ’ t totally confirm the location of the pump track as decisions to go forward have not been made ; however , general discussions have been placing the pump track directly south of the skatepark ,” informed Bosch .
This will make a great additional activity for our city and will complete the landscape surrounding the skate park area sublimely . The city of Martensville continues to build , and recreational facilities and activities are continually developing as well . Residents will be happy to know that the construction of the skate park will finally be beginning this fall ; however , dates have not quite been set .
