Canada Celebrates First Annual Agriculture Day

Canadian Agriculture Food Representatives announced that on February 16th , 2017 , Canadians will unite and celebrate all food and farming production , including all of the people who played a part in putting that food on our tables each day . This day will be recognized across the country as Canada ’ s Agriculture Day , a day initialized by teams Ag More Than Ever , Farm and Food Care Canada , and Agriculture in the Classroom . This is the first annual nationwide celebration regarding an industry that is very dear to us all , the food industry . Each one of us utilizes the food industry making it a common connection to people all across the country . From farmers to grocery stores to restaurants , everyone plays a role in getting the food to your family ’ s table , and that is something worth celebrating .
On February 16th , agricultural and agri-food communities are encouraged to host events and spark conversations across Canada in recognition of the celebrations . “ Canada ’ s Agriculture Day is an opportunity to get involved , celebrate and be a part of the conversation about food and farming ,” said CEO of Farm and Food Care Canada , Crystal Mackay ( realagriculture ). The theme for the day will be ‘ Let ’ s Celebrate the Food We Love ’, and the festivities will acknowledge the food and farming community ; our subjects of celebration .
Agriculture More Than Ever also offered some suggestions on ways to participate in Canada ’ s first Agriculture Day , including :
• Share stories , pictures or create and post a video from the farm
• Host an ag day meal using Canadian ingredients and share online
• Speak at a school or library and share your passion for ag
• Bake and share your favourite recipe and link to Canadian ag suppliers
