Dalmeny and Leask ended up in the final game with Dalmeny bringing home the gold for the weekend .
Erber and Desjardin are MHS alumni as both played on the senior team in their high school days . Erber has been coaching the seniors for the past 4 years and Desjardin has recently come on board this year . “ This is by far our best year in a long time with many

Well after a tough year for Canadian teams in the NHL last year , the 7 teams are looking a lot better in the 2016-17 season . Last year was the first year since 1970 that none of the Canadian teams made it to the post-season . With the season two thirds of the way over , Canadian teams are occupying 5 playoff spots , with Vancouver and Winnipeg just 4 and 6 points out of the post-season . The top Canadian team so far this season is the Montreal Canadiens with a 31-19-8 record but the Habs have been slumping lately , winning just 3 of their last 10 games , and goaltender Carey Price not playing up to his standards . Price has allowed 15 goals in his last 4 games and has won just 1 game in February . The Canadiens are still sitting on top of the Atlantic Division with a 6-point lead .
The Edmonton Oilers are the second best Canadian team with a 29-19-8 record . Goalie Cam Talbot and Captain Conner McDavid are leading the team to 5 wins in their last 10 games and Talbot allowing just 8 goals in their last 4 games . The Oilers are in 3rd place in the Pacific Division with 26 games to go . The Ottawa Senators are having a great season and with the return of goalie Craig Anderson , things are looking to be on the rise . The Sens have a 29-18-6 record and are right behind the Canadians in the Atlantic Division . The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a bounce back season with a 25-18-11 record . Their success is thanks to their first overall pick Auston Matthews and 2 other rookies , Mitch Marner and William Nylander , who are all in the top 5 for rookie scoring . The Leafs sit in 4th place in the Atlantic Division and are tied for the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference .
The final Canadian team currently in a playoff spot is the Calgary Flames with a 28-25-3 record . The Flames have won 4 of their last 5 and it looks as though their stars Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan are hitting their stride . Calgary is holding down the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference . The Vancouver Canucks have a 25-25-6 record and are having trouble finding offence . The Canucks have just 2 wins in their last 7 games and are4 points out of a playoff spot in the West . Surprisingly the Winnipeg Jets are the lowest Canadian team with a 29-25-4 record and are on a slide right now .
The Jets have only 3 wins in their last 9 games and have allowed 18 goals in their last 4 games . Jets rookie Patrik Laine seems to be the only bright spot with 44 points in the 50 games he has played . Winnipeg is looking in on the playoff picture and are just 6 points out of a playoff spot in the West .
