VMS Student Wins
Poetry Contest
Ashley Cey won first place in a poetry contest held
by the City Police in conjunction with our PSSD. Ashley is
a grade 7 student at Valley Manor School in Martensville.
The Saskatoon City Police and the PSSD hosted a two day
presentation, hosting over 2000 students. Students had a
choice to write an essay, poem or draw a picture around the
topic of Drug and Alcohol Awareness. This year’s theme
was ‘Avoid a Crash, Don’t Get Smashed!’. CST Kevin
Schwartz and CST Robert Doerksen, the Saskatoon Police
School Resource Officers for Drug Awareness and Healthy
Lifestyles 2016, came to the school to present Ashley
with her prize, a Saskatoon
Blades’ sweater. Students’
work
was
completed
on liquor bags and the
Saskatchewan Liquor Stores
will be using the bags during
the holiday season.

ABOVE: The VHS grade 3’s had a great time skating as part of their physical education program.
Thanks to the Martensville Arena for having the skating aids, so all the kids can participate
whether they are just learning or just having that extra balance to move around the rink.
