Peewee A Snipers Are A Side Champs

The Martensville Peewee A Snipers captured the A Side Championship at the Rod Hamm Memorial Hockey Tournament held at Harold Latrace Arena . It was a 12 team tournament with teams from Saskatoon and various Saskatchewan City ' s attending .
The Snipers opened the tournament with a stunning last second come from behind win against Regina Shamrocks 4-3 . They followed that with a strong win against Saskatoon Bobcat Oilers 5-0 .
In the A Final they met the Martensville Peewee A Villains . The Snipers battled from behind to tie the game and send it to overtime where they were able to score quickly winning 4-3 .
A special thank you to the Saskatoon Blazers Hockey team for use of their dressing room for the weekend .

skelton achieves gold level

Skate Martensville is pleased to announce that skater Jordan Skelton has completed a Gold Level Skill . This is the highest level of the many skating skill tests , and Jordan is the only skater in Martensville to achieve this level of skill for the past 8 years . Skate Canada states that , “ Skating skills are a combination of skating movements executed on a pattern and skated solo . The basic components of all disciplines of figure skating are incorporated into the program . The objective of the skating skills program is mastery of the basic fundamentals of skating .” Jordan has achieved the highest level of these skills .

Danny James has been Jordan ’ s skating coach and was very excited for Jordan . She has coached him since he was eight years old and described him as a “ very determined , hardworking and enthusiastic skater who is a great role model to all of the skaters in the club .” James continues , “ I have enjoyed watching him grow into the young man he has become both on and off the ice .” Jordan is a grade 12 student at Martensville High School . He has been skating since he was 7 years old . Jordan gives back to the skating club by helping and teaching new skaters with the CANskate program for the past 6 years . Congratulations Jordan on your Gold Level achievement .
The Martensville Skating club had all it ’ s programs up and running since November . The executive this year consists of President Shelley Kobelsky and members Heather King , Sherylann Skelton and Coralee Lennea . This season the CANskate has 102 skaters and the STARskate program has fifteen . The
Interclub competition will take place in Clavet on January 20- 21 while Langham hosts the Funfest on January 22 . The annual Martensville skating carnival is slated for March 26 so mark your calendars .
