Martensville had many athletes compete in the S a s k a t c h e w a n Summer Games in Estevan this past week . Over 2000 athletes and coaches came together over the seven days to participate in the games . Our local athletes were part of the Prairie Central Team that finished fourth in medal standings . Saskatoon placed first , Regina second and South East third . Martensville sent four athletes to compete in the baseball event ; Dawson Strunk ,

Adlai Muench , Jackson Helperl and Nick Misskey . Muench was the tournament leader for home runs . The team as a whole also tallied the most home runs in the event . Prairie Central defeated South West and Parkland Valley in pool play and placed second . They lost a squeaker in the semi final to Regina 10-9 earning a spot in the bronze game against Saskatoon . They ended up fourth in the games .
In archery Mitchell Haas competed in the team event with Reece Davies from Colonsay . They ended up fourth in the team event .
Girls softball action saw three Martensville girls take the field , Carlie Miekle , Maryn Deschner and Kate Misskey . They defeated Parkland Valley in their third game 10- 4 . They defeated South East in their last game of the tournament 10-8 finishing third in pool play .
In girls soccer there were 6 athletes competing , Hayley L ' Heureux , Hayley Bartel , Jillian Benko , Ella Wiebe and Olivia Gutek . They lost some close games in pool play , winning a close one in their last game 2-0 against Team North . Jaymin Berk was Martensville ’ s representative for boy ' s soccer . They had a good tournament tieing their first game against South West 2-2 . They also defeated the North 3-1 to finish first in pool play . They lost a semi-final to Regina that put them in the Bronze medal game against South West . Prairie Central ended up fourth for the games .
Congratulations to all of the athletes that competed to represent our zone , Prairie Central . The athletes took away many memories , made many friends , and learned so much in their respective sports .
