MU | F r o m the Editor Manchester magazine Fountain pen From the Editor I Coming full circle can’t imagine a better office view. Every day I see the fountain where, in 1950, my father proposed marriage to my mother. A circle of plantings and benches borders the fountain, a reminder that life can be a circle. At 55, I still can’t decide if my return to Manchester 5½ years ago was destiny, fate, divine intervention, pure accident or dumb luck. My professors of the late 1970s got me thinking about those Big Questions and I’ve never stopped. A certified lifelong learner, I’ve made peace with not having the answers, and not needing to. Back where my birth family started in a World War II surplus trailer. Back where my brother, sister, niece and a company of relatives spent powerful, transformative years.
