Roger Buzzard, professor emeritus
Roger J. Buzzard, 81, professor emeritus of history and economics,
died Dec. 15, 2013, in Fort Wayne. A graduate of Huntington and
Michigan State universities, he taught at Manchester for 29 years and is
pictured here in a Manchester classroom. He retired in 1997. Survivors
include his wife, Juanita, of Huntington, Ind., two sons and two
daughters.
Allen C. Deeter, professor emeritus
Dr. Allen C. Deeter ’53, professor emeritus of religion and
philosophy, died Dec. 20, 2013, in North Manchester. Deeter,
pictured here with Professor Ken Brown in the early 1960s,
taught religion and philosophy at Manchester for 40 years and
was administrator of BCA Study Abroad (then Brethren Colleges Abroad) for 24 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from
Manchester, a Master of Divinity from Bethany Seminary and his
Ph.D. from Princeton University. He was one of Manchester’s
first peace studies majors and later directed MU’s Peace Studies
Program. Survivors include his wife, Joan, of North Manchester,
and three sons, Michael, Dan and David.
