1940s Professor Vernon Stinebaugh ’ 41x and Angela Sollenberger ’ 40 Stinebaugh celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on Aug . 16 , 2016 .
1950s Mary Mansfield ’ 50 Rohrer received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award from the office of the governor of Indiana , the Judge John W . Tobin Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Izaak Walton League of America , and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from Lions Club International .
Wendell L . Dilling ’ 58 of Midland , Mich ., recently competed in the Michigan Senior Olympics where he won gold medals in the 5K and 10K cycling time trials and 20K and 40K cycling road races ; silver medals in hammer , discus , long jump , triple jump , and 1,500-meter run ; bronze medals in the 200- and 400-meter dashes , and 800-meter run ; and placed fourth in shot put and javelin in the men ’ s 80-84 age group . He qualified to compete in each event in the National Senior Games in Birmingham , Ala ., in 2017 .
Dilling , an adjunct professor at Central Michigan University , also recently developed a new voting procedure for the National American Chemical Society .
Flora Rouch ’ 59 Williams recently released a book titled Springing Forth : Growing Younger while Older . The book is based on 2 Corinthians verses 16-18 and talks to those who have experienced loss , affliction and aging . It aims to provide both healing and words of encouragement .
1960s Gail Altenburg ’ 64 Knudsen and her husband Stephen Knudsen celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 25 , 2016 . Stephen worked as a music teacher and Gail worked as a business education teacher in Ohio and Minnesota . They are retired and live in Belle Vista , Ark .
Jo Young ’ 69 Switzer , president emerita of Manchester University , received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Juniata College in April . Switzer spoke about women and leadership at the college in Huntingdon , Pa .
1970s Carol Anderson ’ 70 Garrett was featured in July at the Roosevelt Noon Organ Series in Michigan City , Ind . There she performed on one of only 30 remaining Roosevelt Organs .
Cary Kelsey ’ 70 received the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award in December for his many years of service with ADEC , the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart Coutny . He began his career with the company in 1970 , and is currently the vice president of guardianship and guidance .
