GLMS members have until Tuesday , Feb . 28 , to review the proposed ballot of candidates for this year ’ s GLMS election and , if they desire , submit a petition to be added to the final ballot .
The proposed ballot was developed by the 2015-2016 Nominating Committee and sent to eligible voting members by email on Feb . 1 . Visit http :// conta . cc / 2llHyBJ to view the proposed ballot .
Candidates are presented for the following offices : president-elect , vice president , treasurer , at-large board members , Judicial Council , KMA delegates , in-training delegates and the 2017 Nominating Committee .
Any member not slated who desires to run for an office may submit a petition containing the valid signatures of at least 196 active GLMS members to Aaron Burch at aaron . burch @ glms . org , no later than the end of the business day on Tuesday , Feb . 28 . An official form is available on the proposed ballot link or you may call 502-736-6338 for more information .
Voting instructions for the online election will be provided in March and the results will be announced in May . Terms begin in June 2017 .

SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION AT ANGEL ’ S ENVY DISTILLERY

The Greater Louisville Medical Society welcomed Kentucky legislators , physicians and business leaders to its annual Legislative Reception , held this year on February 2 at Angel ’ s Envy Distillery in downtown Louisville . With spirits provided by the distillery and hors d ’ oeuvres provided by local restaurant , Harvest , the reception was a huge success .
In addition to making connections across political and health care channels , the event was
used in part to educate those in attendance on the importance of Tort Reform . Maps distributed by the Partnership for Commonsense Justice showed attendees that every state surrounding Kentucky has some type of medical liability reform in place . Kentucky ’ s lack of legislation on the matter has resulted in a less friendly environment to practice medicine .
