As the new legislative session begins in Oklahoma, there are a few
items Sooner State Abate is addressing.
Senate Bill 1457: Senator Shorty
This bill is to help stop motorcyclists
from being pulled over or denied
access based on what they wear or
what they ride.
SB 1077 Senator Fry This bill is
designed to clarify the use of auxiliary accent lighting (LED) on
motorcycles. Current state motor
vehicle code does not cover the use
of LEDS. Which leaves it up to law
enforcement to decide if they feel
you are legal or not.
SB1277 Senator Sharp This bill will
create a Sooner State, Oklahoma license plate for motor cycles and cars
This will be available to all who what
to show their support.
There are 5 other bills that might
interest everyone are:
Support : SB 838 Senator Loveless,
his bill changes the law that the
allows the state to take and sell your
stuff BEFORE you are convicted of a
crime. To AFTER you are convicted.
This is a no brainer, that is the way it
should have been.
Defeat: S B 1009 Senator Matthews. This bill is to change to the
Stand your ground law, which allows
you to defend you and your family
from death without question.
Is to be changed to require you to
retreat first and only as a last resort
to use deadly force. It will be the
opinion of the investigating officer
and/or the D.A. if you were able to
retreat (run) if they FEEL you could
have ran for it and didn`t, then YOU
will charged.
Defeat: House Bill 2275 Representative Denny wants to collect DNA
from anyone arrested for a felony.
NOT convicted, just arrested (and
how you are charged is up to the
arresting officer). Also who is paying
for processing and storage of samples, you are.
Defeat: SB 972 Senator Smalley creating a new class of vehicles.
The autocycle, is reverse trike enclosed cab no M endorsement.
Problem they r removing the cab requirement, which could include ALL
3 wheel motorcycles, there goes the
death toll and insurance rates
Problem 2-9 requires more government to regulate, tax, rewrite laws,
set up bonding for Autocycle dealers repair centers. Plus if trikes are
included do u want seatbelts, autocycles have.
And everone who is already trying
to run us down in a cage will now be
able to have a toy to make it worse
out there.
Your Opinion: HB 2260 As written
2/10/16 It will require everyone
under 18 to take a MSF Basic riding
course to get their license. Training
is good, but forcing people to use a
certain company is against state law/
constitution I do believe. Ask your
politician they should know.
Also the training not all over state
it can be 2hrs or more away, for a
course that takes 2 days to complete
