The Wave Issue 64

the WAVE Issue 64, June 2016 published by New Brighton Project Inc. Greetings Eastsiders We are officially in the first month of Winter. Time to rug up and stay warm. Our Blanket Bank is seriously low on donations this month and we have families in need coming to us every day. We rely on donations to keep this project going so if you have any surplus bedding please consider contacting us. The Blanket Bank has also been nominated as one of three local initiatives to receive some funds from Caltex Dyers Rd. Winning this would enable us to purchase some new bedding items to distribute to those in need. To vote for us you need to go to the Caltex Dyers Rd facebook page and like the Blanket Bank’s picture. We have a new Cafe in the village called Hector’s. Located in Surfside mall in the former Janel’s cafe. They have given it a very cool beachy makeover and are now open for business! Be sure to pop in for a coffee and some yummy food and give them a warm New Brighton welcome. You can’t buy happiness but you can buy LOCAL and that’s kinda the same thing What’s Inside? 2— Historical Happenings 4— Community Article 5— Recycling in Christchurch 6— Library Activities 7— Community Food 8— Activities & Events 17— Under 5’s 18— Clubs & Groups 24— Community Contacts 25— AED Locations All the best, Martha Pick up your copy from NB Library, various outlets or the NBP office, or read online at www.joomag.com Deadline for submissions is the 28th of each month Phone: 388 9920 Cell: 0275174250 Email: [email protected] News: [email protected] Market: [email protected] Physical Address: 105 Brighton Mall Postal: PO Box 18-634, New Brighton, 8061
