Ichthus Newsletter
Quarterly Newsletter from the Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust
My Dear Friends,
At the February AGM, as a preacher myself, I was honoured to take on the
role of Chair of the Trustees for LWPT. I have been involved with the charity
for the past nine years and I am delighted to see how the Lord has blessed
and advanced His work through us. I would ask for your prayers of support
as I step into this new position of responsibility.
I want to begin by thanking you for your continued backing of LWPT and
our work. As you may have noticed, we have been very busy in recent years
developing our provision of support and resources to preachers and leaders
of worship across the UK. Within this newsletter, you will find news and
information about our work. There is also an update from LWPHomes, a
charity which has long been close to the hearts of LWPT supporters. This
includes a report from Graeme Garden, as Chair of LWPHomes, on the sad
closure of Grange Christian Care Home.
Thank you to all those who have contacted us to tell us how much Preach
magazine is valued, and even to make suggestions for future issues. We
continue to strive to provide Preach magazine free of charge to anyone who
needs it. However, we would not be able to do so if it were not for those who
kindly and regularly donate towards LWPT. Each issue costs approximately
£3.50. If you feel that donating to LWPT is something you would now want
to do, you can do so via our website or by calling our office. If you have
recently moved address, or if you would be happy to receive Preach
electronically, then please do let us know to prevent unnecessary costs.
Please also make sure your Church is donating, helping to boost the
numbers of those Churches which already kindly do.
As well as supporting the resources that we provide, your donations go
towards the grants that we give to those in need. As well as the grants
given to those in financial need, during 2015 we awarded 47 grants to
individuals who turned to us for support in order to pursue vocational
training and development, and we had more than twice the number of
applications than we had received in 2014. So we also need your prayers
for those on this committee who award these grants, for their sensitive
decision making within the stewardship required. Without our supporters’
generous and recurring donations, we would not have been able to help any
of them.
So as Paul writes in Philipians 1:3, I thank the Lord every time I remember
you. Thank you for your partnership with us in the gospel, for your prayers
and support.
