and support , an employee ’ s work life by creating more flexible options and platforms for people to self-educate through . Such innovations represents a faster and more effective method through which employees can be trained and upskilled in their own time and flexibility . The next gen digital revolution has provided unprecedented public access to organization information , employer ratings , status and financial positioning . With websites and social media platforms such as Glassdoor |
LinkedIn | Monster | Job Search etc . the talent acquisition market has become increasingly transparent .
While we may choose a technological path or traditional means to manage the HR function , we need to remember that these online digital tools exist to support our strategy – not set its direction . It ’ s important to set the HR strategy first , i . e . remaining open and flexible to new technologies supporting it . Many business executives and HR leaders still equate HR with delivering services rather than enabling strategy . We cannot lose sight of our HR objectives simply because a new tech innovation is available – there still needs to be engagement , analysis and discussion before technologies are adopted to ‘ decipher all glitches ’ especially while dealing with “ people ”.
Some of the trends I refer for 2017 are :
• Leverage on social media platforms to advertise and advocate HR Processes and Initiatives
• Leverage on Internal Communication and E Learning Platforms – changing paradigms from talent buyer to being a talent builder
• Story Telling - Communicate Communicate Communicate
• Valuing diversity while managing multicultural and multigenerational workforce ; i . e . allowing multigenerational workforce to co-exist , thrive and prosper .
You are working on 2 new openings in the Maldives at the moment . Can you tell us a little about them and your vision for the team you are creating ?
As a 4 star resort , the 68 Villa Mercure Kooddoo is being developed to compete in the currently undersupplied Maldives Mid-Scale market . The resort will bring unique and contemporary styling that reflects and respects the unique Maldivian culture and traditions . The resort ’ s location in the pristine Gaafu Alifu Atoll with its amazing marine life and countless diving and snorkeling opportunities is also a great attraction for visitors .
The 5 star , 120 villa Pullman Maamutaa which is just a 10 minute speedboat ride from our Mercure Kooddoo Resort is being developed on Maamutaa Island . A gorgeous island which spans 200,000 square meters and has the most amazing lagoon . Maamutaa is one of the most naturally beautiful islands in the Maldives ! The Pullman Maamutaa will cater to an upscale segment of cosmopolitan travelers seeking all the luxuries & comforts while being in a breathtaking location .
My vision is to create an environment that creates excitement and enthusiasm at this critical stage of our pre-opening operations . This should be grounded in the respect of and humility towards others . I believe that genuine humility , that which comes spontaneously and without pretense , is the most powerful trait of a true hotelier . As we open our first resort “ Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort ” we must take pride in who we are and what we do , seeking excellence and continuous improvement to grow as individuals and as a team . To deliver on our guest experience and brand promise we at Human Resources are committed to ensure that we have the right talent to enable excellence in serving and anticipating customer needs . Our talent need to feel valued , and know they are trusted and respected . We are working hard to provide the necessary tools and opportunities to all our employees , by fostering a culture of support , learning and development and by encouraging diversity within teams and across all levels of management .
