AN INTERVIEW WITH
Chef Adjepong
Remember that scene from the movie “Ratatouille” where the mean restaurant critic Anton Ego (played by Peter O’toole) took a portion of his entree into his mouth? One bite of
his Ratatouille dish was enough to blow away
his taste buds in a good way. We see in the
scene how the tasteful meal took him back to
a happy place as a boy in his memories. This is
what all chefs strive to attain with every meal
they prepare and chef Eric Adjepong does just
that. He is delivering “ratatouille” moments
to his guests one plate at a time.
We had a chance to catch up with the young
talented NY based chef for a mini interview
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A CHEF?
I always had an interest in becoming a cook. What I think inspired me the most were the ideas
of creating dishes that made people happy to eat. I was lucky because unlike a lot of people my
age, I knew from a young age that I wanted to be involved in that aspect of food and cooking. It
wasn’t until maybe sophomore year of high school where I realized that I could make a profession out of my interest. Now that I have further established my career as a chef, the inspirations
behind some of the dishes I make have branched out but I think it always come back to making
people happy.
