Imagining Backwards: Seven Decades of Picasso Master Prints exhibits 50+ works to provide a concise overview of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, with
works dating from 1905 to 1970 with an emphasis in the 20s, 30s and iconic Vollard
Suite. The exhibition will explore Picasso’s work of printmaking techniques while providing
a full survey of his most well-known muses. This exhibit will open the second week of
September to coincide with Picasso The Line, which is an exhibit organized by the Menil
Drawing Institute.

The Rice School of Architecture and the Rice Design Alliance present the Fall 2016 Lecture
Series, Mass Timber. ALBERT POPE, Gus Sessions Wortham Professor, RSA, curates the series,
as many architects and engineers are experimenting with wood as a building
material. Yasmin Vobis and Aaron Forrest of Ultramoderne, whose Chicago Horizon is pictured, will visit on Wednesday, September 28. Lectures will be held this year at the

With the main goal of improving patient experience and showing off the “artsy” side of
their participants, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center’s first-ever art
exhibition will be on display through the rest of 2016. Featuring more than 80 works of
art, including photographs, paintings and drawings – all works by the many talented
physicians, employees and volunteers. Definitely a must-see!

KALEIDOSCOPE: Approaching Nature explores how four artists engage with nature in distinctly
different ways. PENNY CERLING, JANICE FREEMAN, DIXIE FRIEND GAY and ALLISON HUNTER are all midcareer and profoundly influenced by the relationship between human beings and the
natural world. These artists’ works include photography, drawing and paintings and will
all be on display at the Williams Tower Gallery September 15–October 21, 2016.
