Popped in for lunch on their opening day and was glad we did. Nice selection of craft beers on draft and in bottle, representing
a few local breweries (maybe one day we’ll see Houston’s latest addition, Eureka Heights). The menu promised a delicious
lunch with choices like Da Bomb Mi, and the Mexican Bandera, which is what we settled on today. Throw in some of the best
fries and eschabeche veggies on the side and you have the makings of a great gastropub lunch. The owners have transformed
the dingy, worn decor left by the previous Rioja occupants into a clean, bright modern-industrial gastropub to serve the
Westchase and Westside community. Offering some unique sandwiches and twists on tried and true favorites like wings, nachos,
burgers, to name a few, using good, fresh ingredients. Keep it up, guys, and you will have a steady flow of customers.

First off, the service was outstanding. I ordered the chicken kabob plate
but I don’t eat rice or fries, and they most definitely accommodated to
my needs. They improvised and grilled some vegetables and made me
a salad just to ensure that I was satisfied with my plate. Second, the
food was AMAZING. I truly felt like I was eating something that I would
find in Lebanon. If you’re looking to try some authentic shawarma or
kabob, definitely try Abu Omar!

My wife and I finally made it over to Black & White restaurant on
Studewood last night. What a great evening for sitting outside and
enjoying the Heights. The wine selection was great. There were several
options by the glass and reasonably priced. I chose the Tempranillo and
it was delicious. Their menu has two sides, a black side and a white
side (white being mostly seafood, vegan items and kids selections;
black side being all kinds of meat items). My wife had the tuna
tostadas and enjoyed them. I had the red drum and vegetables and the
beet and goat cheese salad. The fish was perfectly cooked. We ended
with a cheese tray and a Cappuccino Martini. The cocktail was inventive
and refreshing. I’m honestly sad it took us 10 months to make it over
there. I recommend it!
