EVENT: INAUGURATION OF ROLANDO ROJAS PERMANENT STUDIO
WHERE: SERRANO GALLERY, WASHINGTON ARTS DISTRICT
The Consulate General of Mexico in Houston and Mexico Tourism Board joined Serrano Gallery and
LOCAL Houston magazine to celebrate iconic Oaxacan artist Rolando Rojas’ new permanent studio
at Silver Street Studios. The Consul General of Mexico Oscar Rodríguez Cabrera was on site for the
ribbon cutting. The night was the perfect kickoff for Mexican independence. An acoustic guitar serenade musician set the tone with Mexican classics while guests enjoyed delicious mole tasting by
Cuchara. Don Julio 1942 Bar created an on-site bar featuring classic margaritas and palomas made
with their exquisite Anejo which is aged in oak barrels for over a year. Guests walked around life-size
paintings by Rojas suspended within the space from the beams overhead and crowded to watch and
interact with Rojas as he painted a canvas live.
