Spirit and Matter by the Houston Metal Arts Guild and Unconscious
Conscious by Lindsay Peyton In this exhibition of metalwork, jewelry and oil
painting, the Houston Metal Arts Guild and Lindsay Peyton explore the spirit of functional
objects and prosaic locations. In the Main Gallery space, the Houston Metal Arts Guild
celebrates the diverse field of metalworking and the spirit that is manifested in every piece
– even the most functional object. In the Side Gallery, painter Lindsay Peyton explores
emotion, mood and energy in her oil paintings of interiors. By experimenting with color,
perspective and texture, she creates energetic and alive spaces. Her hope is that viewers
will feel like they can walk into the painted rooms to think – and to react to what they find
inside, forming their own responses.
