H . S . GREEN $$ $$ Salad , Pizza , Juice Bars & Smoothies | 5092 Richmond Ave . | 713.904.3547 | www . hsgreenrestaurant . com Just had my first meal here and it was absolutely excellent . We went all-out . Food / ingredient quality is top-shelf . Fruit was ripe and sweet . The bone-in chicken special ( only $ 7.50 !) was perfectly cooked and came with 1 / 4 chicken , corn on the cob and fresh fruit . Next , the guacamame dip appetizer was fresh and tasty . That led to the build-your-own salad , which at $ 7.50 , comes with unlimited salad toppings and , with the two great dressings we tried , I thought this place left Salata and the like in the dust . Finally , there was the chicken and mushroom pizza , which was also fantastic . This place , with its great ambiance , gets 4.5 + stars for a lot of great reasons . Check it out !

HUYNH RESTAURANT $$ Vietnamese | 912 St . Emanuel St . | 713.224.8964 www . huynhrestauranthouston . com I am Vietnamese , full-blooded , born and raised in VN . And this is what I have to say : Huynh ' s vc restaurant has some of the best and authentic Vietnamese dishes , served by friendly staff and in a very nice ambience . Pho is very good . Bún bò is authentic , and excellent . Mì Qung is very delectable and yummy . Spring roll is good but not generous , but the peanut sauce is too sweet for my taste . I am planning to go through the menu and more review will come .

LES BA ’ GET VIETNAMESE CAFÉ $ $$ Vietnamese , Soup , Sandwiches | 1717 Montrose Blvd . 832.548.1080 | www . lesbaget . com The best pho I have had in my entire life . The broth was so rich and full of beefy goodness !!!!!! I added beef brisket and a poached egg . Omg .... I could not stop and the best part is I finished the broth after the noodley goodness was gone . I could only wish there was more . We ordered what felt like the whole menu ; my brother and I are all about trying everything . We had the shrimp chips which my mother claims tasted like the ones she had in
Vietnam when she was a kid . What an amazing testimony . My mom had the lemongrass grilled pork with noodles , aunt had the lemongrass beef with rice , brother had the coconut basil shrimp with rice , me the pho and we also ordered the saigon spring rolls and the beef bone marrow ( omg ......). I know just writing everything we ordered makes me feel like a little piggy . Glad I started a new diet on Sunday . LOL . Everything was amazing and looking forward to the food again once these 30 days of 500 calories is over . LOL . yum ...

MELS ’ SEAFOOD SHACK $$ Food Trucks , Seafood | 2521 N . Durham Dr . 713.703.7544 Excellent crawfish , and made in the proper Louisiana way . If your standard for crawfish has been set by a similar place not too far from Mels ’, well , get ready to be blown away . Crawfish are all about the technique , and the two ladies behind Mels ’ certainly know the right way to do it . They have excellent , select-sized crawfish , that are seasoned perfectly . The atmosphere could not be better , and Bring Your Own Beer is a fantastic way to spend a beautiful afternoon day . Very excited to see them do well in the future , and I ’ ll be a regular for the remainder of crawfish season !

MF SUSHI $$$ Sushi Bar , Japanese | 1401 Binz St . 713.637.4587 | www . mfsushiusa . com Everything I loved about the old MF Sushi is still alive and well in this polished new space . The new cocktail menu features Japanese whiskeys and creative plays on Prohibition-era drinks . Service has graduated from casual to five-star . All positive changes , from what I can tell . As always , the sushi is on point . A bit pricier than it used to be , but worth every penny for the experience . By far , the best omakase in town .

OMG BBQ $$ Barbeque , American | 11040 W . Cavalcade St . 832.975.1010 | www . omgbbqtx . com Hands down the best BBQ I ’ ve ever had . Tried the chicken and pulled pork . Ate the brisket and sausage . All four were the best I ’ ve had . The sauce was perfection . The beans had bacon in them . They were delicious . The potato salad ... 10 / 10 . 5 stars . Hands down the best . Highly recommended . Get there early , though ! They will sell out .

PERBACCO $$ Italian | 700 Milam St . | 713.224.2422 www . perbaccohouston . com I lived a year in Italy and so I ’ m relatively fussy about my Italian food . What a treat to stumble into Perbacco last week . The owner was patient and kind around my rusty Italian , and even suggested to my husband to have the gnocchi with gorgonzola ( the gnocchi on the menu was listed with tomato sauce ), which was out of this world . It ’ s my husband ’ s favorite dish and we ’ ve never had better . My risotto with seafood was likewise fabulous , and was made just how I like it . Can ’ t recommend this restaurant enough , from the warmth to the excellent food . A definite win .

PETROL STATION $$ American , Burgers , Beer Garden | 985 Wakefield Dr . 713.957.2875 In my opinion , they have the best burger in Houston . I have gotten the Rancor both times I ’ ve been here and both times have been awesome . This burger is HUGE ! Be prepared to get your hands and face messy ! It comes with bacon and a fried egg . It is about $ 12.50 but comes with fries as well . Def hits the spot ! There are only about 5 tables inside with a big outdoor back patio , as well as seating outside in front . They have good beer selection too , of course .
