KENNY & ZIGGY ’ S NEW YORK DELICATESSEN $$ Delis , Sandwiches , American | 2327 Post Oak Blvd . 713.871.8883 | www . kennyandziggys . com This place has quintessential Jewish food at its finest and we ’ re lucky that it ’ s in Texas , so we can get it whenever we ’ re missing NYC . The pastrami and corned beef have been perfectly cooked every time we ’ ve been here , and we ’ re also big fans of the whitefish salad and kasha varneshkes . The potato pancakes ( regular and veggie ) and knishes ( i . e ., the spinach ) are BEYOND AMAZING and should not be missed . The matzah ball soup is wonderful although we ’ re not the biggest fans of it being served deconstructed . The strawberry cheesecake is out of this world and makes you feel like you ’ re back at Junior ’ s . The B & W cookies are literally the size of your head .

And order the divine creation that is the truffled egg salad with market greens , Parmesan and aioli on a soft and salty pretzel bun . It is the true definition of delicious and easily the best egg salad I ’ ve ever had in my 25 years of being alive . And coming from a vegetarian , you know this gal ’ s had her fair share so just trust me . All things considered , I ’ ve been craving it ever since I left .

MOON TOWER INN $$ Dive Bars , Hot Dogs , Beer Gardens 3004 Canal St . | www . damngoodfoodcoldassbeer . com One of my favorite Houston beer gardens in somewhat of an unexpected location . It ’ s nothing fancy , but has a casual , easy-going environment that ’ s perfect for unwinding after work ( especially on week nights when it ’ s not too crowded ). My only beef about the location is that there aren ’ t any other bars nearby , which makes casual bar-hopping impossible without Uber . Food here is just so amazing ( best hot dogs I ’ ve had in Houston – buffalo is my absolute favorite ), although wait can be pretty long sometimes as their kitchen is pretty tiny . Mondays ( my favorite time to go here ) are mug nights with $ 10 mugs and $ 5 refills . Selection includes about 20 beers on tap of decent variety . I typically try not to go back to the same place and expand my horizons , but Moon Tower is definitely one of the places I look forward to going back – if for nothing else , to try other items on their food menu .

Quite good and spicy but the latter does not last forever . Note their sweetened tea is VERY sweet . Friend had the daily special – coconut curry shrimp – which also was a lot of food and good . Food is very good and a wide selection . Reasonably priced .

Their menu is also very unique and creative , and if they ' re ever at my apartment complex again , I would get everything on the menu ! Must try !!!

Following the Yelp suggestions , I ordered the chicken fajitas . One gets the choice of pinto , black or soup beans . After steadily grazing on complimentary chips and salsa and appetizers , I was overwhelmed by the plate of sizzling tender chicken and bell peppers , plate of rice and beans , and last but most definitely not least , canister of homemade tortillas . Try to get a meal that includes the tortillas , because they are a highlight . I was greatly saddened that I was traveling and could not make use of the leftovers . Ninfa ’ s is not Tex-Mex but authentic , delicious Mexican .

We came for a team Fridaymorning breakfast and I was immediately blown away by the classy , relaxed feeling of the restaurant . The menu was creatively written on the blackboard , and updated daily . The white cushioned seats , with both indoor and outdoor seating , mimicked your breath-taking European-style cafes . Attached to a private lot , there is plenty of parking around the restaurant . You order at the counter and the food is brought out promptly . The service was excellent .

It ’ s an Austin-based business , and it ’ s pretty representative of what Austin ’ s food scene is like . I wish they would expand to other places in the US . I love the way they put spins on their tacos . Every taco I ’ ve tried there has been a delicious experience . I especially love The Independent , The Brushfire . Another thing that is good is their guac on the side ; and if you are interested , it ’ s always great to look up their “ secret ” menu for outrageous tacos . Some of them are pretty hefty ! Their toppings are very fresh , and I especially enjoy their corn tortillas . I can ’ t wait until the next time I visit to get some tacos in my belly again !

Wife loved the mocha and avocado toast with bacon . She threatened to live there after that great breakfast . Our sausage and biscuit croissant and cinnamon sugar cronut were outstanding as well . Very hip and trendy place with industrial decor . Amazing mix of people from young professionals and families to retirees . It is not in the best part of town so be sure to lock your car and keep valuables with you . Sign at counter suggests the same with a large homeless population under nearby freeway bridge .
