H-Town Sneaker Summit Founder BRYAN ANGELLE and business partner ADRIAN SANCHEZ are , for lack of a better word , sneakerheads . “ You ’ ve heard of the old lady with cats ? I ’ m the old man with sneakers ,” laughs Angelle .
Each has lost count of the number of pairs that they own , but estimate it ’ s probably “ in the thousands .” And in December 2016 , they brought that love of sneaker culture to 3814 South Shepherd in Montrose .
Let ’ s back up : The Sneaker Summit , the world ’ s original sneaker community event , was established by the pair in July 2004 , attracting sneaker enthusiasts from all walks of life who gathered to buy and sell rare , limited-edition and fashionable clothing and accessories in a large party atmosphere . From its beginnings in local Houston sports bars , to being the first-ever sneaker and fashion event to be held at the Toyota Center , to a move to an 80,000sf exhibit hall at NRG Park in 2012 attracting tens of thousands of people , the Summit has consistently reached new heights . And now they ’ ve got a permanent storefront for year-round sneaker mania .
