In a recent press conference , HRW Founder Cleverley Stone was joined by Houston Food Bank representatives , participating chefs , restaurateurs and sponsors in revealing the $ 2,015,157.77 donation commitment to benefit Houston Food Bank . This will generate 6,045,473 meals by the Houston Food Bank for those who are food insecure in our community .
Founded in 2003 by Houston radio and TV personality Cleverley Stone , Houston Restaurant Weeks has raised more than $ 9.6 million for the Houston Food Bank , making it the largest annual fundraiser for America ’ s largest food bank and the largest restaurant weeks of its kind in the United States .
New Crime Stoppers HQ a GO Named for local broadcasting legend ( and Guinness record holder for longest news anchor tenure ) Dave Ward , Midtown welcomed the first-ever Crime Stoppers Headquarters Building anywhere in the world at the end of January .
Occupying an entire square block at 3000 Main St ., the new Dave Ward Building will be the city ’ s first Public Safety and Crime Prevention block . The state-of-the-art , $ 10 million facility will serve as a hub for crime prevention , housing centralized operations , staff , volunteers , law enforcement , safe school , safe community and media teams in a single 28,000sf structure .
Home Sweet Home Capital One Bank and Hettig / Kahn Development Corp . recently celebrated the grand opening of Cottages at South Acres , a 144-unit , affordable community of single-family homes in the Sunnyside neighborhood on Houston ' s Southeast side .
Cottages at South Acres is the third phase of the South Acres development and is located adjacent to South Acres 1 and South Acres 2 properties that include 130 four-bedroom single family units . Through its Community Finance group , Capital One provided a combined $ 41.2 million in funding for the first two phases , bringing the bank ' s total financing of the three-phase development to $ 76.9 million .
