YMCA makes a splash

The annual YMCA Swimathon appeal was held on March 5
to help children and adults with disability learn to swim and
feel empowered to safely enjoy the water. The Swimathon
raised money to offer specialised, one-on-one swimming
instruction to people with disability, and to buy equipment
such as pool lifts, ramps and water wheelchairs.

northern exposure
The official unveiling of Minda’s new Elizabeth office
on February 8 was great news for the nearly 14,000
people with disability living in Adelaide’s northern
suburbs. Minda CEO Cathy Miller said the new office
would enable them to expand Minda’s highly-successful
MyPATH program into the northern suburbs, which
offers learning pathways tailored to the wants and
needs of the individual, including cooking, pottery,
gardening and community-based outings.
