The Community ’ s Biggest Advocates

I t ’ s like hanging out with your family , laughing with each other , finishing one another ’ s sentences and poking fun about the other ’ s lunch choices- but they ’ re all dressed in suits . They ’ ve been together for fifteen years now and by the camaraderie in the conference room you wouldn ’ t know that this is a group of established financial professionals with over 80 years combined experience right here in Lethbridge . You can tell these guys are more than financial advisors , these guys are different .
Quintus Financial was founded as a full service platform back in 2002 by five financial advisors . They talk about their code of conduct ’ s focus on nurturing community leadership . “ When we opened our office , that was one of our goals , one of our founding principles ,” Terry Mah tells me .
Over the course of the last fifteen years , the partners at Quintus Financial have shown that they are committed to improving the lives of not only their clients , but all of those in the community .
A t the same time Quintus Financial was founded , the partners jumped into sponsoring and supporting a national non-profit called KidSport , an organization that removes the financial barrier that could prevent some kids from playing sports .
“ We talk about the ‘ what if ’ s ’ of financial planning , but what if kids can ’ t afford to play sports ?” poses Kim Craig .
It ’ s a question they ’ ve helped KidSport answer with the $ 86,000 the organization was able to give to kids just this past year . That ’ s 513 kids in the KidSport Lethbridge / Taber chapter that were able to join organized sport teams .
The conversation around the table is positive , reflective . Mary Chervenka , Kim Craig , Malcom Kano , Terry Mah and Paulette Reid share the stories of the time , energy and money they ’ ve spent giving back and to this community . Soon the group will start prepping for the 10th annual KidSport golf tournament , which is held in July , just one of the many events they , with the help of other sponsors , put on to raise money and give back .
“ We want the community to know that we are out there , getting involved , and helping ,” says Paulette Reid .
“ I see how beneficial it is for my kids to be in sports ,” Chervenka adds . “ Being a part of helping those families in need and to see more children are involved in building the relationships and confidence that sports can give them , makes me feel really good .”
