Employers are eager to hire graduates like Rebekah Van Hell . She completed the Interior Design Technology program at Lethbridge College in 2011 , and now is an award-winning design team lead at Galko Homes Master Builder .

Q & A with Rebekah Van Hell

Did your Lethbridge College education help prepare you for your job ? Yes , from everyday skills like drafting and space planning , to critiquing a new plan in a team setting – these are foundations that I built while attending the college .
What has been the biggest surprise about working in interior design ? I had great mentorship leading into this career , and so I felt that I was well prepared . However , I did quickly find that there is endless learning in interior design . I have been at my current job for four years and am still learning new things every single day .
What do you like best about the work you are doing ? Working with my clients . The process of building a home is very exciting , but can be overwhelming for some people , so I make it my mission to build a relationship with my clients so that they are comfortable with me helping them to bring their dream to life .
What ’ s been the proudest moment in your work life ? Winning an award from the Canadian Home Builders on the first showhome I independently designed . It was the affirmation I needed to know I could stand on my own as a designer .
