The 2015 Lehman Foundation Awards Dinner:
The 2015 Lehman College Foundation awards dinner was a
magical night that celebrated both the past and future of the
College. This year’s honorees included Professor Emeritus
Joseph Tusiani, a poet, translator, and scholar who retired from
the College in 1983. At 91, Professor Tusiani stunned the crowd
with his evocative speech on the beauty of knowledge as well
as sharing a new poem with the audience. Robert Sancho, a
vice president at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, accepted an award
for Miguel A. Fuentes, Jr., the hospital’s CEO. The evening’s final
honorees were hockey icon, Mark Messier, the former Captain
of the New York Rangers; Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes;
and Kevin Parker, for their visionary leadership to transform the
Kingsbridge Armory into the Kingsbridge National Ice Center,
which will open in 2018. “The evening was a great success and
raised over $350,000 for the Lehman College Foundation.”
