CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW
surround my studio and I usually take my camera . As I stare at weathered rocks , eroded soil , plant debris and an endless array of natural objects lit by the continuously changing sunlight I find wonderful fleeting moments to photograph … and then crop into fantastic abstractions .
We have appreciate the mix between ephemerality and dynamism suggested by Light Ring Caress . At first , we tried to relate all the visual information and the sense of ephemerality communicated by the dynamism of the composition to a single meaning . But we soon realized that we had to fit into the visual rhythm that pervades this stimulating body of works , forgetting our need for a univocal understanding of its content : in Light Ring Caress we can recognize the desire to invite the viewers to an aestetic journey marked out with spontaneity , to establish direct relations : would you say that it ' s more of an intuitive or a systematic process ?
It is definitely an intuitive process . In fact , I deliberately crop the images in a manner that encourages the viewer to let go of their need to identify the objects and focus instead on how the objects relate to one another and the space in which they dwell . When that release occurs , it is not uncommon for the viewer to feel that many of the objects have their own life force and that at any moment they may become animated .
Your photographs often show an aethereal quality : photographer Thomas Ruff stated once : " nowadays you don ' t have to paint to be an artist . You can use photography in a realistic way . You can even do abstract photographs ". What is your opinion about the importance of photography in the contemporary art ?
Like painting , photography can be used as an art form or a commercial endeavor
