CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW
We like the way you structure your pieces : in particular water path leaves space for the spectators to replay the ideas you explore the relationship between environment and their intimate lives , letting them become emotionally involved in what you are attempting to communicate . As Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco once stated , " the artist ’ s role differs depending on which part of the world you ’ re in . It depends on the political system you ’ re living under ". Do you think that the role of the artist has changed these days with the new global communications and the new sensibility created by new media ?
I definitely think that global communication and new media have changed some dynamics for those who are working in the fields of art . These challenges aim to advance artistic innovation and find other means to pursue their works . In my personal experience , global communication has provided me with an excellent and important frame to share my experience generating new reflections , concepts and strategies in different countries and places . It has also given me the possibility to meet and dialogue with interesting citizens , educators , researchers and practitioners from different places and disciplines . At the same time , new social and environmental challenges have been arisen from contemporary societies and I would like to share my vision to some of these issues . Particularly , the transformation from the natural landscape into artificial landscape has motivated me to generate new environments of contact and transition between both surroundings and the necessity to redefine the borders by creating more sensitive approximations to our landscapes .
How do you go about naming your work ? In particular , is important for you to tell something that might walk the viewers through their visual experience ?
The title on my work plays a significant part of the process articulating another layer of meaning . On some occasions , the title is a descriptive name or organic reference that clearly defines the nature with which the experience is associated , and on other occasions , there is also an open possibility implied in the title that complements the narrative of the art work .
