Multidisciplinary artist Jing Zhou has developed a personal visual language that expresses universal ideas capable of capturing the common language through which the outside world communicates with our inner sphere . In her Dimensions of Light series that we ' ll be discussing in the following pages she encapsulated both traditional heritage and unconventional sensitiveness , to trigger the viewers ' perceptual parameters . One of the most impressive aspects of Zhou ' s work is the way it accomplishes the difficult task of walking the viewer through a multilayered experience in the liminal area between eternity and transience , oneness and variety , existence and emptiness : we are very pleased to introduce our readers to her stimulating and multifaceted artistic production .
Hello Jing and welcome to LandEscape : we would start this interview with a couple of questions about your multifaceted background . You have a solid formal training and after having earned your BFA from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute you moved to the United States to nurture your education with a MFA that you received from the Georgia Southern University : how do these experience influence the way you currently conceive and produce your works ? And in particular , how does your cultural substratum dued to the relationship between your Chinese roots and your current life in the United States informs the way you relate yourself to art making and to the aesthetic problem in general ?
