In particular , would you tell our readers something about the evolution of your style ? In particular , are your works produced gesturally , instinctively ? Or do you methodically transpose geometric schemes ?
In my most recent work , I begin gesturally , intuitively , and expressively . The beginning of the work is driven by a disorganized combination of emotion and physical energy . My work space is typically very messy – ideally , I will begin a new painting outside . I apply large , washy strokes of bright colors to the canvas , and I don ' t think about what the final outcome of the piece will be . In the next phases , my actions become increasingly technical and logical . Within the nebulous expressive mess , there is potential for organization . I find ribbon-like forms within the gestural mass , and I gradually develop them into believable , spatial images of intricately woven forms .
