SEPTEMBER 9 ( 5-11Y ) The North Pavilion at Forest Park Beach will be transformed into an island paradise on this special evening for young ladies and their dads , grandpas , uncles , or other special guests . Island-themed prizes will be awarded for a variety of games and contests .

SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 1 ( ALL AGES ) Bring the family down to Forest Park Beach for a night of camping . Pitch your tent and get ready for an evening of family fun ! The Wildlife Discovery Staff will entertain you with a reptile show , while local astronomers will teach participants how to use ( provided ) telescopes to observe the heavens . Try your hand at metal detecting , watch a movie in the pavilion or just enjoy the campfire . Meals Saturday night and Sunday morning will be catered by the popular Chef Steve Chiappetti from Purely Simple Kitchen . This is the only night of the year that camping is allowed on the Lake Forest Beach so , don ’ t miss out on this unique family bonding experience !

Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation is hosting the 9th annual Festival and Fireworks on Tuesday , July 4 at Deerpath Park . This community event is a fundraiser to help support the Parks and Recreation Department by providing private donations in support of scholarships , equipment , and services for all city parks and programs as well as the Friends Pavilion at Townline Community Park .
