If you’re affected by the benefit cap your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit will be reduced after autumn 2016. Our Money Matters Team is here to help. They can talk you through changes to your benefits and ensure you’re getting everything you’re entitled to. The DWP has sent letters to everyone who may lose benefit payments under the new rules. The biggest benefit change that may affect you in the coming months is Universal Credit (UC). Job Centres are now asking all single claimants who would have claimed Job Seekers Allowance to now claim UC. From December 2016, anyone in Hastings reporting a change of circumstances will be moved to Universal Credit. The graphic above shows the levels of the benefit cap from Autumn 2016. The current levels are £500 for couples with children and lone parents and £350 for single people.
