"My first memory of David Bowie is seeing him as a child on television in the film 'Labyrinth'. It started a
love affair that has lasted to this day. He is the only artist I have ever encountered who has inspired me
and terrified me in equal measure. The infinite variety of his music and his many personas has created
some of my all-time favorite songs and imageries as well as some of the most disturbing. But
throughout I have admired and adored him.
As artists I think we often feel that we don't quite fit in. It can be a lonely place, and sometimes you
wonder if perhaps you should simply hide away the real you in an effort to conform to the norm.
Everything that David Bowie was has left me with one of the most powerful messages of my life... it's
ok to be you in whatever way you choose."
