frame by frame Old World Charm by Jackie Muise Pictou, Nova Scotia is where 86-yearold Fred LeBlanc was born, raised and returned to after a long military career. Sitting on the southern side of the Northumberland Straight, the picturesque little town offers all that he requires – family, friends and a uniquely eclectic optometrist service that exactly reflects the old-world charm of the area. 1/ Prism Optical has been owned and operated by optician Terry Lockerbie, and his wife, Marie, for the past 17 years. One of a number of locally owned businesses close to the downtown waterfront, the shop doubles as a display room for oil paintings and water colours created by the artistically inclined Lockerbie family themselves. 4/ Today, however, Terry is focused on helping Fred chose a suitable new pair of bifocal glasses and frames. A long and loyal customer, Terry does realize that Fred is fundamentally practical. 2/ 5/ Still, he tries to steer him towards a somewhat updated design. “ $
