Join the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium for School ’ s Out Ed-Ventures that take place on this non-school day . For students in Kindergarten through fifth grade , there are half-day and full-day options . From 9:00 a . m . -12:00 p . m ., celebrate the birthday of Julien Dubuque , our city ’ s namesake , who turns 255 this year . Youth discover who lived prior to what is now Dubuque , how Julien Dubuque lived , and why he decided to develop what is now called the City of Dubuque . From 1:00-4:00 p . m ., a voyageurthemed rendezvous takes youth back to a time when the Mississippi River was a wilder place . They ’ ll explore uncharted territories , barter for goods and services , and explore a historic log cabin . Member costs are $ 20 for a half-day , $ 35 for a full-day ; non-member costs are $ 25 for a half-day , $ 40 for a full-day . A full day registration will require the student to bring a sack lunch .
